Wisconsin Gains Another Voice On The House Ag Committee

By Stephanie Hoff Feb 19, 2025 | 11:09 AM

U.S. Rep. Tony Wied serves Wisconsin’s eighth congressional district. This year marks the start of his first full term in office after finishing former Congressman Mike Gallagher’s term late last year.

Wied introduces himself to Mid-West Farm Report after taking a position on the House Agriculture Committee. He grew up in Ashwaubenon in Brown County, playing football at St. Norbert College where he met his wife Angela. They currently live in De Pere with their four sons.

Prior to considering a run for office, Wied had a career as an entrepreneur and business owner. He and his wife operated several Dino Stop gas stations throughout Northeast Wisconsin and later expanded their business by opening several Little Caesars restaurants. After selling the business two years ago, he decided his next calling was to serve District 8.

In addition to serving on the House Agriculture Committee with fellow Congressman Derrick Van Orden of District 3, Wied also has seats on the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and Small Business Committee.

Wied’s policy priorities this year include passing a Farm Bill, repealing the “death tax” or estate taxes in order to ease the transition of a farm to the next generation, and supporting forestry.
